Abundant Earth

By admin - Posted on 01 October 2010

Abundant Earth is a workers co-op, with 15 acres of land called Cooke's West Wood Farm near Broompark, 2 miles from Durham city. We are committed to minimising fossil fuel use, so growing is done by hand and we have plenty of volunteer opportunities. Our main business is growing veg in our one acre garden, where we also pick n pack every Thursday. We sell 2 veg bag sizes, small and large, and deliver to 4 drop off points across Durham City. Our aim is to supply 100% of our own but we do buy extra veg in from regional organic veg suppliers and farms as we need to. We focus on seasonal, local and fresh produce. Our approach is organic but we are not registered organic. We are members of the Permaculture Association. We are also involved in running courses and workshops in a range of rural skills including permaculture design, fruit tree grafting, basket making, foraging, felting, green woodwork, hedgelaying, seed saving, organic growing and more. We are closely involved in the Transition Durham activities including the Durham Local Food Network and Durham Fruit Group.
